The Dolomites & Venice

The Dolomites are an approximately three-hour drive north of Venice. The mountains in winter are a great skiing destination, but there are plenty of activities for non-skiers like winter walks and gorgeous mountain views. Venice during the Carnival was jam-packed and full of tourists and locals in elaborate costumes.

Bologna is a relatively small city in northern Italy. However, it is full of places to visit like the Piazza Maggiore where the Cinema Ritrovato film festival screens films on many summer nights and the hundreds of porticoes that cover most of the city's walkways.
